Expanding Our Approach HomeExpanding: A broader vision of the scope and community. Our: We (hopefully including you) are people who care about the built and natural environments (not that they are necessarily separate). Approach: Integrated design is ideal for delivering green, high-performance buildings. But does it go far enough? In April 2005 a group of people got together to begin imagining a new understanding of our work as architects, developers, engineers, scientists, educators, writers. We came with questions and ideas—about place-based design, living systems, integral thinking, and other evolving approaches. The "Follow-up" screen contains information on subsequent activies, such as the Greenbuild 2005 session, "Shifting Our Collective Mindset." See the "Preliminaries" screen for details about the Pocantico workshop's goals and participants. This website contains summaries and illustrations from that meeting, and thoughts about moving this initiative forward. You are invited to review what we've compiled and share your own thoughts, ideas, and reactions. Use the tabs at the top of this page to browse the material. If you wish to contribute, just register as a user of the site. Then you'll be able to add your comments in various places throughout the site. This initiative is supported by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The April 2005 meeting was also sponsored by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. The materials presented on this website reflect the views of the authors and not necessarily those of other conference participants, GSA, or of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. |
